Where we watch

Recreation.gov is the easy part: we watch federal campgrounds nationwide. State parks are messier. Every state seems to have its own reservation system, so we connect them one at a time. Here's where we are today.

Federal land, all 50 states

Recreation.gov handles national parks, national forests, Corps of Engineers lakes, and BLM land. We watch it nationwide, and cancellations can show up at any time of day.

Federal openings can show up anywhere.
4,613 federal campgrounds and 1,417 state parks on this map. Every dot is a place we watch.
Select a state to zoom in. Hover a dot for its name.

Recreation.gov does not show us when a site is sitting in someone's cart, so Cart Watch, when it comes, will not cover it. Cancellation alerts do.

WATCHING NOW
State park systems we can watch today.

Set up a Campground Search on a state park campground in these states and we'll alert you when a site opens.

CONNECTING NOW
State park systems we're working on next.

You can't set up a Campground Search on a state park here yet. We'll let you know when your state is ready.

NOT SUPPORTED
State park systems that currently block automated access.

We can't watch these state park systems today, and we won't work around their access controls. Recreation.gov campgrounds in these states are still covered.

WATCHING NOW

State parks we watch now

Thirty state park systems are in our launch scope.

We turn each state on only after we're sure the data is right. Some will be ready before others.

CONNECTING NOW

State parks we are connecting now

We know how to reach these systems and they're in the queue. No dates promised.

NOT SUPPORTED

State parks we will not be adding

Four states run a reservation system that blocks automated access.

We could try to work around the block. We won't. If those systems open access to tools like ours, or the states choose to work with us, we'll add them and update this page.

A booked campground doesn’t always stay booked.

People cancel. Holds expire. Parks put sites back into inventory. The openings can be brief, and they don’t all happen the same way. That’s what we’re watching for.
